U of U Professor Invents Camera Filter That Captures More Light

In the future, according to University of Utah professor Rajesh Menon, most photographs will never be seen by human eyes.
Instead, the majority of digital images will be captured by self-driving cars, security systems or drones, and then analyzed by software programs and artificial intelligence rather than a human operator.
"We need to start rethinking the whole way we are designing cameras," said Menon, who works in the university's electrical and computer engineering department.
Menon believes he has taken a step toward that future with the new digital camera filter he developed.
